As a longtime citizen of Allegheny County, Lee Cornett is deeply connected to the heartbeat of the mountain community she and her family are proud to call home. Hired by the Alleghany Partnership for Children in 2000, Lee quickly became the program director of DANA (Domestic Abuse is Not Acceptable). For over 12 years, she has worked as an advocate for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and elder abuse: "Having watched a very close relative survive a very brutal domestic violence relationship taught me that home is where people should come to find shelter from everyday stresses from the world outside. Home should not be the place you are afraid of, wondering if you will survive the night." Her firm belief that EVERY person has the right to a life free of violence fuels her efforts to assist those trying to find peace, health, and happiness. Her vision for the future...peace in the world begins at home.
