Meet and connect with GV friend and local Malawian activist, Zion Kennedy Phillips.



A great friend and supporter of Growing Voices, Zion Kennedy Phillips is an accomplished artist, local community activist, and respected leader in his community. Born and raised in Nkhata Bay, Zion lived on the streets at the age of 9, selling hand made post cards to tourists in order to support himself and his siblings. Zion comes from a long line of great leaders, which is evident in his charisma and ability to connect to those in need. Through his many talents, he has been able to give back to his community by supporting various local projects and cultivating a strong sense of community responsibility. As we embark on our sustainable project plan for Chikale Primary School, we have asked Zion to join us in creating a profit-producing garden to help fulfill school needs. Growing Voices is incredibly lucky to have a relationship with a man of such integrity and ingenuity. We are hopeful that our work together will bring tremendous growth for the schools in Nkhata Bay.
